Trading pump.fun coins in the pump.fun app

pump.fun's own web and mobile app is the only place its Platform Fee applies. Here is what a trade costs there, how it works, and who holds your keys.

Short answer

Trading in the pump.fun web or mobile app costs the on-chain fees every venue pays (1.25% on the bonding curve, then 1.25% falling to 0.30% in the PumpSwap pool) plus pump.fun's 0.45% Platform Fee, or 0.40% with any referral code, charged since 17 Oct 2026. A $1,000 bonding-curve buy costs $17.00 in fees, or $16.50 with a code; Solana network fees come on top.

What the pump.fun app is

pump.fun is the launchpad where most Solana memecoins start. Its web app (pump.fun) and iOS and Android apps let you create a coin, buy and sell coins on their bonding curve (a formula that raises the price as people buy), and keep trading them after they graduate into a PumpSwap pool. It also runs livestreams, a coin feed and, outside the US, perpetual futures routed to Hyperliquid.

DefiLlama tracks the mobile app on its own: it has handled hundreds of millions of dollars of volume a month (the live figure is in the box above). Web-app trades sit inside DefiLlama’s main pump.fun total.

How to trade pump.fun coins in the app

  1. Open the official site or app. Type pump.fun yourself or use our link; never trust a search ad or a DM.
  2. Sign in. You can connect a Solana wallet such as Phantom, or create one at first login with an email or social account (pump.fun uses Privy for these wallets).
  3. Fund the wallet with SOL or USDC, either by sending from an exchange or another wallet, or with a card purchase inside the app.
  4. Open a coin, enter an amount and confirm. The Platform Fee is shown as its own line before you confirm.
  5. To sell, open the coin and sell some or all of it. The same fees apply to sells.

Applying a referral code cuts the Platform Fee from 0.45% to 0.40% on every later trade. Existing users can apply one, but only one per wallet, and pump.fun may treat it as permanent.

Fees in the pump.fun app

FeeRateWho gets it
Platform Fee (app and web only)0.45%, or 0.40% with a referral codepump.fun (part goes to your referrer, if you used a code)
Bonding curve1.25% (0.30% creator + 0.95% protocol)the coin’s creator and pump.fun
PumpSwap pool, after graduation1.25% for small coins, falling to 0.30% at a market cap of 98,240 SOL or morecreator, protocol and liquidity providers
Solana network and priority feesset per tradeSolana validators

So the pump.fun Platform Fee does apply here, and only here: pump.fun’s Fees page says it is “not charged on trades placed through Terminal or any third-party interface”. On the other hand, most third-party terminals charge 1%, which is more than the Platform Fee; the cost table below shows the trade-off.

Since 1 Nov 2026, pump.fun pays referrers 37.5% of the Platform Fee their referred users pay, which works out to 0.15% of each referred trade. Every valid code gives you the same 0.40% rate: the code only decides who is paid. pump.fun sets the share at its discretion and can cut it to zero.

Custody and KYC

pump.fun’s terms (§30.1) say it has no control over your wallet or its private keys, whether you connect your own wallet or use one created at sign-up. pump.fun says it will only ever ask for a private key inside the “Link email & socials” dialog of your signed-in account, never by DM, email or on another site. Anyone else asking for it is a scammer.

There is no identity check to trade. Card purchases go through a payment provider with its own checks.

Chains and availability

The app trades Solana coins, plus coins on Robinhood Chain, an EVM chain, where pump.fun charges 0.10–0.15% per transaction on top of the Platform Fee and any bridge costs.

The UK is a Prohibited Jurisdiction in pump.fun’s terms, as are Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The US is allowed for the app; only the perpetuals feature excludes US persons and residents of Ontario.

Risks

  • Most pump.fun coins lose most of their value, many within hours of launch. Creators can sell their own supply at any moment (a “rug”). Check a coin before you buy.
  • Lookalike sites and fake support accounts are the main way people lose wallets. Use only pump.fun and the official app-store listings.
  • Platform history: DefiLlama records a $1.9M loss from a compromised private key in May 2024. A class action filed in January 2025 alleges the platform operates as illegal gambling; the claims are unproven.
  • Fee changes: pump.fun can change the Platform Fee and the referral share at any time; its Fees page carries a “Last Updated” date worth checking.

Computed with our fee engine from each app's documented base rate, without referral discounts unless noted. Bonding curve: pump.fun's 1.25% curve fee (0.30% creator + 0.95% protocol) applies on every app. Large graduated coin: the canonical PumpSwap pool at its lowest tier, 0.30% (market cap of 98,240 SOL or more); small graduated coins pay 1.25%, the same as the curve. Platform Fee: pump.fun app and web only, 0.40% with a referral code (pump.fun Fees page, last updated 17 Oct 2026). *fomo on Solana charges a flat $0.95 on orders of $47.50–190 and 0.50% from $190; it also pays your Solana network fee. Jupiter Ultra, the default, charges 0.5% on coins under 24 hours old (assumed for bonding-curve coins) and 0.1% after (assumed for large graduated coins); Manual mode adds no Jupiter fee but leaves slippage to you. Solana network and priority fees, slippage and price impact come on top everywhere and are not shown.
