Short answer

Sign in at pump.fun or in the app (an email code creates a wallet), add SOL or USDC, paste the coin's contract address into search, check it, enter an amount and confirm. A bonding-curve buy in the pump.fun app costs 1.70%: 1.25% curve fees plus the 0.45% Platform Fee (0.40% with a referral code), per pump.fun's Fees page of 17 October 2026, plus a small Solana network fee.

Before you start

  • Can you use it? pump.fun is closed to the UK and sanctioned countries, and you must be 18+. Check here.
  • Is this the real site? Use pump.fun typed by hand, or the app from the official store listing. Official links.
  • How much? Only what you can lose entirely. Fewer than 1 in 100 new pump.fun coins graduate to a PumpSwap pool (0.84% in April 2026).

Step 1: Sign in

On pump.fun, choose Sign in. You get two options:

  • Email: pump.fun sends a sign-in code and creates a self-custodial Solana wallet for you through Privy, a separate company (Terms §30.1).
  • Connect a wallet you already use, such as Phantom or Solflare.

Which should you pick? If you choose email, export and store your private key early.

Step 2: Add SOL or USDC

Choose Deposit. You can:

  • buy with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in the app, through a third-party provider that may ask for ID; or
  • send SOL or USDC on the Solana network from an exchange or another wallet to your pump.fun address.

Keep a little extra SOL for network fees. Funding in detail.

Step 3: Find the coin by its address

Search by contract address, not by name. Names and tickers are copied constantly, and an address ending in “pump” proves nothing. Get the address from the coin’s pump.fun page or the creator’s verified account.

Step 4: Check the coin

On the coin page, look at the audit strip: dev holdings %, top 10 %, snipers % and bundlers %. High numbers mean a few wallets can crash the price. Run the address through our coin check for a second look, and read how to spot a rug if anything is unclear.

Step 5: Buy

  1. Choose Buy, then enter an amount in SOL or USDC.
  2. Check the slippage setting: the most the price can move against you before the trade fails. Thin coins move a lot.
  3. Confirm. The trade is a Solana transaction and settles in seconds. Once confirmed it can’t be reversed (Terms §9.6).

You can also set a limit order, which buys only if the price reaches your level. pump.fun charges the Platform Fee when a limit order fills (§9.3), and it may not fill at all.

What the buy really costs

Where the coin trades decides the fee (pump.fun Fees page, 17 October 2026):

Where the coin isPool feespump.fun Platform Fee (app and web)Total per side
Bonding curve (SOL or USDC)1.25%0.45%, or 0.40% with a code1.70%, or 1.65%
PumpSwap, just graduated (under 420 SOL market cap)1.25%0.45% / 0.40%1.70% / 1.65%
PumpSwap, 420–1,470 SOL market cap1.20%0.45% / 0.40%1.65% / 1.60%
PumpSwap, 98,240 SOL market cap and up0.30%0.45% / 0.40%0.75% / 0.70%

On top: a Solana network fee, any priority fee you set, and slippage. Selling costs the same again, so a round trip on the curve is about 3.4% before price moves. Every valid referral code gives the same 0.40% rate; the code only decides which referrer is paid. Use the fee calculator for your exact trade, and compare where else the coin trades.

After you buy

Your coins appear in your pump.fun portfolio and in your Solana wallet. When you want out, see how to sell and withdraw.
