Short answer

A Holder Rewards coin sends the creator fee to its holders instead of the creator. On SOL and USDC coins that is the normal tiered creator fee (0.30% on the curve, up to 0.95% in PumpSwap); custom-pair coins use a flat 0.01–3% set at launch. Wallets holding at least US$20 share it pro rata, net of distribution costs, and payouts aren't guaranteed.

What a Holder Rewards coin is

Normally, part of every trade’s fee goes to the coin’s creator (creator fees). A creator can instead choose, at launch, to send that slice to the coin’s holders. pump.fun calls this a Holder Rewards coin. The type launched in September 2026, reportedly on 12 September, alongside the retirement of Cashback coins for new launches.

pump.fun’s Holder Rewards page reported $26.28 million paid to 582,300 wallets as of 25 October 2026 (Internet Archive capture of that page).

How much goes to holders

Coin typeRate paid to holders
SOL- or USDC-pairedThe normal tiered creator fee: 0.30% on the curve; 0.30%–0.95% in PumpSwap by market cap; 0.05% for the largest coins
Custom-pair (any other quote asset)One flat rate the creator sets at launch, from 0.01% up to the platform maximum (3% at the time of writing). It applies on both the curve and PumpSwap

For SOL and USDC coins, “only the recipient changes”: traders pay exactly the same as on any other coin. For a custom-pair coin the flat rate replaces the fixed 0.30%/0.05% creator fee. A coin set at 3% therefore costs traders about 3.95% per trade on the curve before any app fee, against the usual 1.25%. The rate is shown on the coin’s page; the fee calculator lets you enter it.

Who gets paid, and when

  • Minimum holding: wallets with at least US$20 of the coin (pump.fun’s “current” minimum).
  • Split: pro rata to holdings among eligible wallets.
  • Paid in: the pool’s quote asset (SOL, USDC or the custom-pair asset), never in the coin.
  • Timing: “from time to time” from a vault for the coin. pump.fun doesn’t publish a fixed schedule.

What gets deducted

Before each distribution pump.fun reserves money from the vault to cover network, rent and priority-fee costs:

Coin paired withReserve per eligible holder (maximum)
SOLUS$0.01
a token (USDC or a custom-pair asset)US$0.20

Actual costs are reimbursed from that reserve and any unused amount stays in the vault. Distributions don’t run while the vault holds less than the reserve plus a minimum (currently US$20), or while the coin has more eligible holders than pump.fun’s current limit. Rewards are therefore paid net of costs and not guaranteed.

Things to keep in mind

  • Rewards don’t offset a price drop. At 0.95% of volume, a coin needs heavy trading for holder payouts to matter, and memecoin prices can fall far faster than rewards accrue.
  • The choice is permanent. It can’t be changed after launch except through a community takeover (CTO). A Cashback coin can be converted to Holder Rewards through a CTO.
  • pump.fun’s terms warn that rewards “may never be paid”. Don’t buy a coin for its rewards.

Most memecoins lose most of their value. Check a coin before buying.

Questions people ask

How do pump.fun holder rewards work?

A creator chooses at launch to send the coin's creator fee to holders. The fee builds up in a vault and is distributed from time to time, in SOL or USDC, to every wallet holding at least US$20 of the coin, in proportion to its holding.

How much do holder rewards pay?

It depends on the coin's trading volume. Holders share the creator fee: 0.30% of curve volume and up to 0.95% of PumpSwap volume on SOL and USDC coins, or the flat 0.01–3% rate on custom-pair coins, minus distribution costs. There is no fixed yield.

Can a creator switch holder rewards off?

The choice is made at launch and can't be changed afterwards, except through a community takeover (CTO). A custom-pair coin's flat rate is also fixed at launch.

Are pump.fun holder rewards guaranteed?

No. pump.fun's terms say rewards are conditional, can be paused or withheld, and may never be paid. Distributions don't run while the vault is too small or the coin has more eligible holders than pump.fun's limit.
