pump.fun creator fees: how creator rewards work

Every trade in a pump.fun coin pays its creator. How much depends on where the coin trades and how big it is.

Short answer

A pump.fun coin's creator receives a creator fee on every trade: 0.30% on the bonding curve, and 0.05% to 0.95% in the coin's PumpSwap pool depending on market cap, highest from 420 SOL. It is paid in SOL or USDC, never in the coin itself, and applies to all coins trading since 13 May 2025.

What the creator fee is

pump.fun splits every trade’s pool fee three ways: the creator fee goes to whoever launched the coin, the protocol fee goes to pump.fun, and the LP fee stays in the pool as liquidity. The Fees page says the creator fee “is applicable for all coins that were present on the bonding curve or PumpSwap from the date of May 13th 2025”.

Fees are collected “in the quote asset of the pool on which it is charged, never in the coin being traded”. A creator of a SOL-paired coin earns SOL, and a creator of a USDC-paired coin earns USDC.

The rates

Where the coin tradesCreator feeTotal fee you pay

Market cap is the coin’s price in SOL times 1 billion. USDC-paired coins follow the same pattern in USDC bands, with the 0.95% tier from 59,000 to 300,000 USDC. All tiers are in the full ladder.

The jump after graduation

A graduated coin that reaches 420 SOL market cap pays its creator more than three times the curve rate: 0.95% instead of 0.30%. Over the same step, pump.fun’s own protocol fee falls from 0.93% to 0.05%. On $1 million of trading, that is $9,500 to the creator instead of $3,000. The trader’s total fee barely changes (1.25% to 1.20%). What happens at graduation walks through it.

The design rewards creators whose coins survive graduation and keep trading. It does not reward the biggest coins most: above 1,470 SOL the creator’s share falls tier by tier.

Where the fee can go instead

  • Holder Rewards coins. At launch a creator can send the creator fee to the coin’s holders instead. Holders with at least $20 of the coin share it pro rata (holder rewards explained).
  • Charity coins. A creator can opt in to have the creator fee paid to a charity, under pump.fun’s Charity Coins terms.
  • Cashback coins (closed to new launches) credit the creator fee back to buyers when the trading app supports it, and pay the creator otherwise.
  • Community takeovers (CTO). pump.fun’s terms let a community take over an abandoned coin, after which the fee can go to the new fee owner.

What it means if you’re trading

  • You pay it either way. The creator fee is inside the pool fee, not an extra line.
  • It doesn’t make a coin safer. A creator earning fees can still sell their own coins, and many do. Earning fees and dumping aren’t mutually exclusive.
  • It explains creator behaviour. Creators earn from volume, so some promote their coins hard after graduation, when their cut is highest. Treat that promotion as marketing.

Most pump.fun coins lose most of their value. Check a coin before you buy.

Questions people ask

How much do pump.fun creators earn per trade?

0.30% of every bonding-curve trade. After graduation, 0.30% below 420 SOL market cap, 0.95% from 420 to 1,470 SOL, then less at each higher tier, down to 0.05% at 98,240 SOL and above. Custom-pair coins pay a fixed 0.30% on the curve and 0.05% in PumpSwap.

Do pump.fun creator fees come out of my trade?

Yes. The creator fee is part of the pool fee every trader pays, so it is included in the 1.25% curve fee and the PumpSwap tier fee. It is not an extra charge on top.

When did pump.fun start paying creators?

Creator fees apply to all coins on the bonding curve or PumpSwap from 13 May 2025. They started at 0.05% of each trade and became tiered, up to 0.95%, on 1 September 2025.

Can a creator fee go to someone other than the creator?

Yes. A creator can choose at launch to send it to holders (a Holder Rewards coin) or opt in to send it to a charity. After a community takeover, the fee can go to the new fee owner.
