Does pump.fun require KYC?
Signing up and trading need no ID. A handful of money-related features can ask for it. Here is each one, with the clause.
No, not to sign up or trade. pump.fun needs only an email sign-in code or a connected wallet, and its Terms of Use (17 October 2026) set no identity check for buying or selling. Identity checks can apply in four places: trading competition prizes (Competition Terms §5), the deposit-match program, referral fee share payouts, and card purchases, which run through a third-party payment provider.
What needs no ID
- Signing in. The web app offers “Send sign-in code” to an email address, “or connect a wallet” such as Phantom (pump.fun web app, archived 23 October 2026). An email sign-in creates a wallet for you through Privy, a separate company (Terms §30.1).
- Buying and selling coins, on the website or the mobile app.
- Creating a coin. The Fees page lists no platform fee and no verification step.
- Withdrawing to another Solana wallet.
The eligibility rules (§2.1) still apply: you must be 18 or older and not in a Prohibited Jurisdiction such as the UK. pump.fun checks that with location and device signals rather than documents. See is pump.fun available in the US for the country list.
Where pump.fun can ask for ID
| Feature | What can be checked | Where it says so |
|---|---|---|
| Trading competition prizes | Identity, age, eligibility and wallet ownership; “know-your-customer”, AML and sanctions screening. The check must be finished within 30 days or the prize reverts. Competitions are natural persons only, one wallet each. | Trading Competition Terms §3, §5 |
| Deposit match (new mobile users) | “Any identity verification, fraud screening or other checks that we or our service providers require” | Referral Rewards Program Terms §3.1(e) |
| Referral fee share (for referrers) | “Identifying, tax or other information as a condition of continuing to participate” | Terms of Use §4.9(i) |
| Holder Rewards | Wallet sanctions and AML screening, and possibly identifying information for tax reasons | Terms of Use §4.8(e), §4.8(i) |
| Card or Apple Pay / Google Pay purchases | Run by the third-party provider under its own rules | Referral Rewards Program Terms §4.2 (“We do not identify Integrated Providers”) |
The Privacy Notice (29 October 2026) matches this: pump.fun may collect “identity verification information where a particular Pump Service requires it”.
Card purchases: the provider does the check
When you buy SOL or USDC by card inside the app, the purchase goes through a payment provider pump.fun calls an “Integrated Provider”. pump.fun doesn’t name it, and says the providers can change. The web app’s code referenced MoonPay in October 2026, but that isn’t confirmation of which provider you’ll see. Card on-ramps generally verify identity under their own rules, so expect to be asked for ID there even though pump.fun itself doesn’t. Sending crypto you already own from an exchange or wallet skips this step. See how to fund your account.
No KYC doesn’t mean private
Every pump.fun trade is a public Solana transaction anyone can look up by wallet address. pump.fun also logs “technical, device, wallet, session, and network metadata” (§6.2) and may share information with authorities where the law requires (§7.2). Your exchange, if you funded from one, already knows who you are. Tax still applies: see pump.fun taxes.
Never “verify” for a stranger
Fake support accounts often open with “complete KYC to unlock your funds”. pump.fun’s real flows never ask for your seed phrase or private key: the terms say so (§12.2(c)) and the app repeats it. Read pump.fun scams before you answer any message about verification.
Questions people ask
Do I need to verify my identity to use pump.fun?
No. You sign in with an email code or by connecting a Solana wallet, and the Terms of Use set no ID check for trading. Prizes, the deposit match and referral payouts can require one.
Do pump.fun competition winners have to do KYC?
They can be asked to. The Trading Competition Terms (§5) let pump.fun require identity, age and wallet-ownership checks before paying a prize, and a winner who doesn't finish them within 30 days forfeits it.
Does buying crypto with a card on pump.fun need ID?
Usually, yes, but the check is run by the payment provider, not pump.fun. pump.fun's program terms say it doesn't name its card providers and that they can change.
Is pump.fun anonymous?
No. There's no ID check, but every trade is public on the Solana blockchain, and pump.fun logs device, IP, wallet and session data for security and compliance (Terms §6.2).
